I quit using Adobe Photoshop when it went to a subscription model and I was mostly doing web work.
Acorn became my main image tool.
For 90% of the image work I need, it is great.

If there is something that needs a little more finesse, I bought the Affinity Suite back when they were all going for $50 a piece.
